Licensed Massage Therapist

Tammy is a licensed Massage Therapist and Esthetician that offers the following service:

Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.

Lymphatic Drainage aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don’t get too uncomfortable.

Pregnancy Massage Nurturing the Mother® Pregnancy Massage is ideal for all three trimesters and uses a combination of massage methods to yield the following results:

  • Calming Swedish massage strokes for deep muscle relaxation, tension release and increased circulation
  • Gentle range-of-motion and stretching movements to relieve pressure through neck, shoulders, rib cage, lower back and hips, and to promote greater strength flexibility band balance
  • Deep tissue work in the hip and gluteal area to help alleviate chronic lower back and hip pain
  • Abdominal massage for round ligament pain, to support digestion, increased circulation to the placenta and baby. Increase awareness of the baby. The baby will feel and benefit from the massage.

Background: Having grown up with a bicultural background, splitting my time between South America and the West and East Coasts of the United States, I have a rich and diverse perspective on life and healing. My academic journey included studying Classical Music (Cello) and Dance at Montgomery College and the University of Maryland, where I made the Dean’s List and served as a Public Relations Officer. I later graduated with honors from the Potomac Massage Training Institute in 2001, where my clinical massage training encompassed anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology, and the practical application of massage.

I began my professional career as a massage therapist in Houston, TX, where I also served as a State Convention Delegate, organizing grassroots community events and advocating for contemporary issues. After returning to Washington, DC, I furthered my education at Aveda in Chinatown, studying Aesthetics and Ayurvedic practices. Graduating with honors, I honed my skills as an aesthetician, working at a Medical Spa where I trained in Advanced Aesthetics.

Balancing my career and family life, I transitioned to mobile work after having two children, allowing me the flexibility to spend time with them.

My career has included roles at prestigious spas and fitness centers such as the Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Sports Club LA, and L&T Fitness at IDB, where I have had the privilege of working with royalty, celebrities, and athletes.

I have also gained tremendous knowledge from working with the elderly, persons in nursing homes, as well as with disabled individuals, including paraplegics and quadriplegics, and various members of my community.

I am committed to staying abreast of new and cutting-edge treatments while honoring ancient healing practices. My studies in Thai Massage, Cupping, and Gua Sha in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and my certification in Oncology Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, and Body Sculpting, reflect my dedication to helping clients achieve a healthy lifestyle.

Healing the body and caring for humanity has been a lifelong journey for me and my family, and it is an honor to continue this work.

I am licensed as a massage therapists in Washington, D.C. and as a cosmetologist/esthetician in Maryland.
